RFID enterprise integrations

RFID integration that turns physical movement into the right enterprise update.

Connect validated RFID events to the ERP, MES, WMS or EAM your team already uses. FactorySense engineers enterprise RFID integration around your records and workflows, so a movement on the floor can become the right receipt, transfer, issue or production update.

Choose how your systems exchange data.

The workflow determines who initiates the exchange and how it reaches the enterprise system. Explore the options below to see how validated RFID events can become usable updates, with a clear path for responses and exceptions.

Push: FactorySense initiates an update after a field event meets the agreed rules. The enterprise response confirms acceptance or directs the event to an exception workflow.

Push updates from the field

Use an accepted movement or status change to initiate an enterprise update. Define when to send it, how to identify duplicate events, and how to handle a failed or rejected response.

Connect through an approved API

A direct route connects FactorySense to the enterprise system's supported interface. Agree on authentication, transaction mapping, rate limits, acknowledgments and recovery with the system owner.

Compare the interface options

Who initiates the exchange?

  • Push: FactorySense sends an update when an agreed event occurs.
  • Pull: The enterprise system or its integration service requests available events on its own schedule.
  • Bidirectional: Field events update enterprise records, while approved master data or work-order context informs the RFID workflow.

How does the exchange reach your system?

  • Direct API: Connect to the enterprise system's supported interface.
  • Enterprise service bus: Route messages through your existing enterprise messaging and transformation layer.
  • Integration platform or middleware: Use the platform that coordinates your application connections and workflows.
  • Scheduled files: Exchange agreed data files in batches, with validation and reconciliation at each end.
INTEGRATION PROCESS

Reliable updates, with a record of what happened.

We agree on the workflow and record ownership before development. FactorySense.io validates the RFID event, then sends the agreed update through a supported interface or your existing middleware. Testing and user acceptance testing run separately from production, and controlled releases help protect established connections.

Identity and master-data mapping

Relate tag identifiers to the correct assets, items, containers, jobs and locations. Define which system owns each field and how identifiers and relationships are maintained.

Filtered business events

Separate raw observations from accepted arrival, departure, issue, return or transfer events. Apply rules for direction, repeated reads, ambiguous movement and operator confirmation.

Transaction acknowledgement

Track whether the enterprise system accepted, rejected or has not yet processed a request. A successful transmission is different from a successful business transaction.

Duplicate handling and recovery

Design deduplication, retry behavior and replay controls around the destination interface. Address network interruptions, out-of-order events and failed transactions without creating duplicate business records.

Visibility and exception ownership

Provide a traceable relationship between the observation, event and enterprise response. Assign responsibility for investigating unmatched identifiers, validation failures and unresolved transactions.

Access and change control

Use approved credentials and least-privilege access. Define environments, release procedures, configuration ownership and regression checks when enterprise interfaces or field workflows change.

Connect your floor to your enterprise systems.

In this clip from a recent podcast interview, we explain why every integration starts with your workflows, not the hardware. Many of our customers run the same enterprise software, yet no two have it configured the same way, so our first step is always to understand how your operation and the physics of your environment actually work. Only then do we work to decide where readers and tags belong to trigger the right updates in your ERP, MES, WMS or EAM.

Questions and answers

RFID enterprise integration questions

Practical answers for planning the workflow.

Do you have a ready-made connector for every ERP listed?
+

We confirm the interfaces available in your system and engineer the workflow you need. A platform logo does not mean every version, module or transaction has a ready-made connector. We verify connector availability, access and any certification during scoping.

Can RFID post directly into SAP, NetSuite or Oracle?
+

Yes, where the system supports the required transaction and your IT team approves the connection. We first validate the RFID event, map it to the right record and confirm permissions, acknowledgments and error handling. Repeated or unclear reads should not create duplicate or incorrect transactions.

Can we keep our existing middleware?
+

Often, yes. Existing middleware may be the preferred enterprise integration layer. We define responsibilities across RFID capture, FactorySense event logic, middleware and the system that owns the record.

Can you integrate with a custom or older application?
+

We review the application's supported interfaces and operating limits. An API, existing middleware or file exchange may provide a practical route. If automatic updates are not supported, we explain the alternatives and define how your team will reconcile the records.

What should we bring to an integration discussion?
+

Bring the system and version, relevant modules, workflow, record identifiers and IT owner. Example transactions and existing interface documentation help establish a practical first scope.

Will RFID updates post to our ERP in real time?
+

It depends on the workflow. Some movements need to reach the ERP right away, while others are better handled as a scheduled sync. Timing also depends on read validation, network availability and how your ERP processes transactions. We set the right timing for each workflow and test it before go-live, and this is not always designed to be an immediate push into ERP.
